Anyone who has watched this show has probably asked this question. How exactly are Dragons chosen to become the official protectors of their country of origin? Let's start with what we do know; firstly these Dragons are chosen by the dragon council, two the title can be passed through family as shown in "Being Human" and finally a deciding factor are the parents of the Dragon in "Bite Father, Bite Son." So the answer is, it's the family or bloodline. At first I thought it was because the chosen dragons themselves were special but if that was true then why does the title passes thought family, why doesn't it just go to another dragon from another family. It's because it particular Dragon that's special it's the family itself.
Lao Shi said that Jake was chosen because of his parents. His powers comes from his mother but his father also added something, likely good human qualities. Then you have to take into account his grandfather who was a world dragon himself and had fought the dark Dragon and survived. All in all it's the family bloodline. The council took all those things together and concluded that this family line is strong and would produce strong dragons and plus America didn't have an official Dragon before Jake thus chose all the more reasons. They chose Jake on the assumption that due to his family line he would adopt all those qualities and would be excellent for the job and they were right.
What do you guys think about my theory? Any plotholes?
